The evaluation of digital education holds significant importance in fostering the global development in this field, garnering considerable attention from the international community. However, limitations persist in establishing a comprehensive evaluation system due to the lack of an evaluation framework with wide consensus, the lack of internationally comparable, high-quality data, and the lack of a robust international cooperation mechanism. Recognizing these gaps, we developed the Global Digital Education Development Index (GDEI) to provide a holistic evaluation of national digital education development across the globe.
