The rapid development of artificial intelligence not only has a disruptive impact on education but also profoundly changes the paradigm of scientific research. Using AI responsibly is key to maintaining the healthy and sustainable development of the science and education ecosystem. Addressing this issue, Esra Erkal, Executive Vice President of Global Communications at Elsevier, delivered a keynote speech titled "Enlightening the Future: Driving Research and Education with Responsible AI" at the parallel session on "AI Education Development and Evaluation" during the 2026 World Digital Education Conference.

She pointed out that AI is profoundly transforming science and education but has also raised concerns. The academic community expects AI tools to have a high degree of transparency, robust accountability mechanisms, and information reliability. In its research-grade AI solutions, Elsevier combines a high-quality knowledge base, precise AI, and human expert evaluation. Realising the enormous potential of AI requires cooperation among all parties within the knowledge and innovation ecosystem in areas such as governance, responsible use, and trust.
